Everything that we love and value about the Three Crowns Park community began with someone’s idea, innovation, and investment, whether it’s residents making a life commitment to our community and adding their voices to programs and traditions, staff members and volunteers giving their talent and energy, family members bringing their love and care, or donors giving to make life at Three Crowns Park better for everyone.

Philanthropic support is an essential part of how we deliver on our mission at the highest level—allowing us to make those extra investments that drive many aspects of our resident experience from good to great and from great to exceptional.

The virtual event brought together staff, residents, and resident families to celebrate the Three Crowns Park community and honor three extraordinary heroes: the Three Crowns Park Staff during COVID-19 (represented by Gerald Farinas, TCP Director of Life Enrichment), James E. Elsass (Board of Directors Member), and Northwestern University (represented by Dave Davis, Executive Director, Neighborhood and Community Relations). A special thanks to our event sponsors for making this event possible!

Why Give

Together, we can invest in everything that makes life at Three Crowns Park great—for the benefit of all of our residents and families, today and tomorrow. Your philanthropic commitment invests in the people, programs and places that make Three Crowns Park a life-changing community for all of us. Any gift—whether supporting a specific initiative or the area of greatest need — empowers us to think bigger, move forward faster, and do more for all of our residents and families. Unrestricted support allows us to improve facilities and grounds, expand activities and programming, and integrate new technology—among other priorities identified.

Other top priorities include giving to support:

Response to COVID-19 Pandemic Impact

The COVID-19 pandemic immediately impacted Three Crowns Park and propelled us into crisis management mode to manage the unprecedented needs and costs.  To protect our team members and community members from the virus, we incurred significant emergency costs for personal protection equipment, additional staffing, temporary staff housing, and repeated testing of all residents and staff. And through these challenges, our Life Enrichment team developed creative new activities and used technologies to keep our community together while being physically distant.

Development and Recognition of Staff

Our staff is the heart of the quality of care and life at Three Crowns. Recognizing our staff in multiple ways, supporting their professional development today, and investing in their aspirations for the future is critical to ensuring that residents continue to receive the love and care they have come to know. As part of this commitment, the Generations Employee Scholarship Program, established by a former resident in 2001, invests in staff’s greater potential, helping them achieve their dreams of higher education programs.

Enriching our Continuum of Healthcare

Residents and families count on Three Crowns Park to offer a continuum of outstanding care that supports them no matter what needs arise. Staying on the cutting edge of health care takes extraordinary ongoing investment and philanthropy helps us to invest in new capabilities sooner, so that every resident has the best care available anywhere. Pathways to Excellence in Memory Support is one critical area. This uniquely designed program supports Three Crowns residents concerned about and impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementia through the on-going education of staff as well as residents and family members caring for loved ones with memory impairment.

 Enhancing Environmental Sustainability

Our resident sustainability committee is working together with our management team to enhance environmental sustainability within the Three Crowns Park community.  The committee is actively encouraging participation by all residents and staff at Three Crowns Park.  Gifts to this purpose will be designated this year to offsetting the increased cost of expanded food-waste composting.  This is a resident-driven initiative to lead the way in living a greener, less wasteful life.

Benevolent Care Fund

When residents face unexpected hardship, the Benevolent Care Fund allows us to find a solution that works for them to stay at Three Crowns Park. It expresses the spirit of community at Three Crowns Park.

Volunteering

Volunteering at Three Crowns Park is a richly rewarding experience. Supporting the needs of our residents is both challenging and inspiring, and we’re grateful that you are interested in helping out! Your role as a volunteer is to provide more than just your time and energy—it’s to offer companionship, support and care to our residents and staff, in your own unique way.

Whether you are interested in one-on-one walks around the neighborhood with a resident or participating in group activities like accompanying us on a resident adventure, the opportunity to connect with residents and staff is special. Volunteers participate in a variety of activities on campus, including working in the gardens or art studio, assisting residents with technology, participating in storytelling groups, bringing your pet for pet therapy activities, or sharing holistic services like Reiki and aroma therapy.

The possibilities are endless—as long as they enhance the Three Crowns Park community, ensuring that we all live life to the fullest.

"Being a volunteer is an opportunity to share my time and my talents. Whether I’m helping to lead an activity with residents or visiting someone one-on-one, the sense of giving is so rewarding when you feel the love and appreciation that is given back. I look forward to my visits."
